HACKERS HACKED THINGS HACKINGLY
Two major “hacking” scandals in the last week bringing to the front fears about fragility of computer systems in a world of powerful AI agents, or something.
Was it the beginning of an AI hacking apocalypse? Lol no, routine bureaucratic incompetence.
The Danish population register got rekt, and some of the most sensitive personal data of the entire nation leaked, because an external contractor - Pays ApS, 2 employees, one wonders if nephews or friends of politicians or senior public servants - used a “123456” password on an admin account.
And the Vikings only noticed they got pwned because the Danish attacker performed 14 million searches, and a staffer spotted an unusually large invoice. The billing process apparently made a more effective intrusion detector than the security process. Fire everyone involved. Prosecute them for good measure.
Meanwhile, freezers in hundreds of French supermarkets were set to “angry defrost” at 50°C after Neo and Morpheus themselves used the most advanced hacking skills to hackingly hack into them, the login credentials being “admin” + a daily changing password that was … deterministically and predictably generated from the current date.
This isn’t Skynet worming into systems, this is humans being retarded. Plain as.
Not only is this not “AI hacking”, you cannot even call it regular hacking, just like walking through an open door isn’t lockpicking.
If anything, it’s an argument that humans should be removed from the workforce and replaced with something smarter.
I’d also like to point out the infuriating double standard of THE GOVERNMENT - OF DENMARK, which is often held up as THE IDEAL of good governance - having an entire nation’s most sensitive data behind a “123456” password at an obviously poorly vetted external contractor, while the same governments are super anal about 100,000 intricate compliance rules that YOU have to follow OR ELSE. Perhaps we should hold them to their own standards.
They promised us flying cars, and instead we got 140 characters … and then flying cars from the same guy
In a tasteful fuck you to Peter Thiel, Tesla unveiled an actual flying car.
It’s the most retarded thing in human history. I want one.
The small souled bugmen are not taking it well and half of the internet is just this right now:
“But what is it good for?” - As I covered almost a decade ago, everything Elon does is about space and it all fits together. Imagine this thruster tech on lunar and martian rovers. If it jumps, hovers and soft-lands in Earth gravity, imagine what it will be able to do on the Moon and Mars.
Or imagine it as a final landing system on vehicles delivered from orbit, even on Earth - perhaps ones dropped into war zones. Don’t forget SpaceX is developing cargo delivery reentry capsules, partly at the behest of the armed forces.
Tesla Minivan When?
While this is a really cool car for picking up chicks, as a family man of a certain age I would like to suggest that Tesla make a car for after you have impregnated one - so a car that fits 2+ child seats, as well as a meaningful amount of cargo. Many families stop at 2 kids because that’s the highest number you can fit in a normal car, and all existing offerings in the category of “family cars” entail significant tradeoffs with regard to cost and dignity.
Elon, if you want to support birth rates, make a proper family car. The model Y is too small.
I have an ancient 2018 Model X, and would like to trade up to get self-driving. The Cybertruck is not legal in Trisolaran-occupied Soviet Europe, and the Model Y cannot fit a folding pram and three large suitcases, which the Model X just barely can. Tesla is the only company on the planet that can make a family minivan that doesn’t feel like a vasectomy.
It rather defeats the purpose of a family car if getting it stops your wife from wanting to sleep with you.
